On Mercy Killing. What the Bible says

I am a single dad now, and already a senior - I love internetting (online blogging) and Facebooking and attending our MCGI online gatherings.

All copyrights of the YT video belong to MCGI - What the Bible says on Mercy Killing through Brother Eli Soriano

My idea on Mercy Killing is based merely on what I read from encyclopedias, from stories I read and heard and watched from YouTube videos - stories of persons who have wished to die in a Mercy killing. So far, I did not experience this kind of situation. Glory be to God.

As a Christian, I do not and I won't favor Mercy killing. To answer why or why not - first, let us know what is an incurable disease? Because I could see that an incurable disease is the main ingredient why some people have to wish for mercy killing to end their life. And what are some of the incurable diseases - before defining what is Mercy killing.

According to the definition found online - Incurable diseases are disorders of infectious, non-infectious, genetic, metabolic, neoplastic, or autoimmune nature that do not currently have a cure.

Sample of incurable diseases: cancer. dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. advanced lung, heart, kidney, and liver disease, stroke, and other neurological diseases, including motor neuron disease and multiple sclerosis.

Some of the people who are dying from those incurable diseases would just choose or wish to die because for them - they are already dead. So mercy killing will be their best choice, it is either by suicide or by murder.
----------
Now, what is Mercy killing? The oldest encyclopedia in the world the "Encyclopedia Britannica" defines mercy killing as Euthanasia, also called mercy killing, the act or practice of painlessly putting to death persons suffering from a painful and incurable disease or incapacitating physical disorder or allowing them to die by withholding treatment or withdrawing artificial life-support measures.

In-Law Cornell Edu -A mercy killing is the intentional ending of the life of a person who is suffering from a terminal, painful illness. The term–also called “right to die”–is most often used to describe voluntary euthanasia, though it is also used for non-voluntary euthanasia and involuntary euthanasia.

Voluntary euthanasia is considered either passive or active. Passive voluntary euthanasia is when a person dies after refusing or withdrawing their consent for lifesaving medical intervention. This is legal in many countries, including the United States following Cruzan v. Missouri Department of Health, where the Supreme Court decided that a competent person had “a constitutionally protected right to refuse lifesaving hydration and nutrition.”

Active voluntary euthanasia, on the other hand, generally occurs when a person is administered large doses of painkilling medication. This term includes assisted suicide, where a patient is provided with the medication to end their own life. The term also includes physician-assisted suicide, where a licensed medical professional administers the medication.

Active voluntary euthanasia is legal in some countries, to some extent. These countries include Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and some states in Australia. In the United States, the Supreme Court refused to recognize active voluntary euthanasia as a Constitutional right in Washington v. Glucksberg. However, some states have recognized a right to active voluntary euthanasia through death with dignity statutes.
Non-voluntary euthanasia, on the other hand, involves a patient who is unable to consent to life-ending measures. Involuntary euthanasia involves a patient who does not or resists such measures.
---------------
Additional info - Because there is no specific provision for it in most legal systems, it is usually regarded as either suicide (if performed by the patient himself) or murder (if performed by another). The first countries to legalize euthanasia was the Netherlands in 2001 and Belgium in 2002.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the opinion that euthanasia is morally permissible is traceable to Socrates, Plato, and the Stoics. But it is rejected in traditional Christian belief, chiefly because it is thought to contravene the prohibition of murder in the Ten Commandments.
------------
Looking at the definitions above - whatever they called it, Mercy Killing, Euthanasia, or Right to Die - all of them are about killing, and killing is a crime. Whether it is done by "himself/herself or with the help of someone to end life it is a crime in the eyes of God. In the Church of God, we were taught that "Ang Dios lang ang may karapatan na bawiin ang buhay ng isang tao" - yan ay ayon sa ating napag-aralan.

My perception regarding those people who experienced or currently experiencing situations that involve Mercy Killing - I would wish for them to look to the true God, who sustains life, believe in Him, and trust Him. They should live with Him.

What the Bible says about Mercy Killing?

I remember, someone asked Brother Eli Soriano about his opinion on mercy killing - the question says, "Kung isa kang napakahirap na tao at may inaalagaan kang tao na may kapansanan, hindi pa ba makatuwiran ang "Mercy Killing?"

Brother Eli Soriano answered it directly to the point, saying "You know what mercy killing will never be reasonable because nobody of us can claim that we are more merciful than God.

"As long as God still gives life to someone because God is the owner of life, for you to decide on mercy killing because you feel mercy, you will kill a person, you are trying to show that you are merciful than God, you're wrong.

"Because only God can give life to man, as long as he lives, it is allowed by God, every single bird will not die if it is not permitted by the Father in heaven. And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's will. Even a bird will not fall to the ground without the permission of the Father in heaven."

Let us read Mateo 10:29, "Hindi baga ipinagbibili ng isang beles ang dalawang maya? At kahit isa sa kanila'y hindi mahuhulog sa lupa kung hindi pahintulot ng inyong Ama."

"A person, if it is not yet allowed by the Father, he will not die, if you kill him, you're the criminal. That is not mercy killing. You can't claim mercy above the mercy of the Lord. God is most merciful.

"As long as he is living, if you want to help him, help him, but do not kill him. There are ways to help him to alleviate what he is feeling. But to kill him, it is not within the rights or within the power of human beings or within the permission of the Lord for you to kill a fellowman.
